frequently asked questions
-
We're not a replacement for any type of school, we're a complement to it. LJC is a structured learning center where kids can come in to work alongside peers, build real projects, and experience a community-based learning environment outside the home.
-
You'll hear it in the way they talk, the depth of their conversations, the questions they ask, the ideas they defend. We track growth through skills like collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving. Progress isn't always something you can measure with a letter grade, but it's always something you can see.
-
At LJC, kids work at their own level and pursue projects rooted in their own interests so motivation is naturally high. When a kid is working on something they care about, engagement follows. Facilitators check in regularly and adjust the environment to meet each kid where they are.
-
LJC is built for kids who want to experience school connected to the real world. Our hours run during traditional school days, making it a natural fit for non-traditional school families. Kids here spend their time developing real world skills that can carry into every environment they enter.
-
Our learning is designed to be continuous rather than tied to a traditional school sequence, so kids can attend the days that work best for your family without feeling like they’ve fallen behind. We've intentionally designed the experience so every visit moves learning forward, because our goal isn't to recreate school. It's to create a learning experience kids genuinely enjoy.

Who runs LJ Campus?
The short answer: the kids do. LJC is designed so kids drive their own learning, given real missions, grouped strategically with peers, and trusted to work through problems together. A facilitator designs the environment and guides the process, but ownership belongs to the kids.
